Difficulty: Medium
Ingredients: 7
Ingredients:
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup of raw mix kibble (or your pup’s favorite meal)
- 6 oz. of raw food
- ½ cup goat kefir
- 5oz. can of wild Alaskan pink salmon
- Two pinches of blue spirulina
- Sprinkle freeze-dried Duck treats (or your pup’s favorite treats)
Special Tools:
- Silicone treat mold
Directions:
- Crack open an egg and whisk until yolk and whites are combined. Add the egg to your silicone treat molds & freeze for a minimum of 3-4 hours.
- When you’re ready to serve, fill one strip of the slow feeder with salmon canned in water. Reserve the water for future steps.
- Add some, or all, of your dog’s regular meal to the other modules of the Feast Mat. Here, I’m using 6oz of a balanced premade raw patty and half a cup of raw mix kibble.
- If serving kibble or air dried food, use the reserved water from your salmon to add a bit of hydration.
- Crumble a few freeze-dried Duck treats and sprinkle on the rest of the meal to create a sand-like appearance and add a burst of unexpected flavor.
- Fill any unused sections of the Feast Mat with a hydrating liquid, such as goat milk kefir.
- To create the appearance of ocean water, I sprinkled just a pinch of organic blue spirulina on the kefir and stirred to combine.
- Just before serving, remove your egg molds from the freezer and place in your “sand” for your dog to find.
- Serve and watch the drooling begin!
Notes:
When using a mold without a firm bottom or plastic structure (like the silicone seashell molds pictured here), I like to place the entire mold on a piece of cardboard, making it much easier to transport to the freezer without any spillage. Got any leftover mixture? Put it in a silicone mold to make yummy pupsicles!
Nutrition Tips:
Blue spirulina is an all-natural supplement that supports the immune & digestive systems. It is packed with macronutrients and when mixed with other foods, it acts like nature’s food coloring, adding a vibrant blue hue to products such as kefir.
Kefir's superpower? Its probiotics! With 61 strains of bacteria and yeast, it's a gut health superhero, fending off infections and supporting digestion. Plus, it's packed with protein, calcium, vitamin K, B vitamins, magnesium, and potassium, all vital for a healthy body! Goat’s milk kefir is even lower in lactose than regular kefir.
Salmon is fin-tastic for your pup! Packed with Omega 3 fatty acids, it keeps cholesterol, triglyceride, and blood pressure levels in check, all while being a digestible tasty treat that boasts a hefty dose of protein. Look for high-quality salmon that is low in contaminates to be as nutrient dense as possible
