Difficulty: Medium
Ingredients: 6

Ingredients:

  • 2 quail eggs (or a chicken egg)
  • 2 tbsp microgreens and/or broccoli sprouts
  • 1 tbsp goat cheese (or something super smelly!)
  • 3/4th cup of kibble and 4 oz. of raw food (or your pup’s favorite meal)
  • 6-10 blueberries
  • 3-5 pcs Freeze-dried Duck treats

Directions:

  • First, plug up the Toppl with your trusty Toppl Stopper.
  • Next, smear a bit of something novel to your dog at the base of the Toppl (I used goat cheese – the smellier and more high value - the better!)
  • Crumble and sprinkle freeze-dried Duck treats.
  • Next, add a portion of your dog’s regular meal. Here, I used some raw mix kibble and then part of a balanced, pre-made raw patty.
  • Using the base of a spoon, create an indentation in the raw food topper and fill with microgreens & broccoli sprouts to create a ‘nest’ for the quail eggs.
  • Add your quail eggs to the nest - you can leave them whole, or snip open the tops like I did in the pictures.
  • Create a ring of blueberries around the outer edge of the raw food.
  • Feed fresh or frozen!

Notes:
When you live with a high-energy, high-drive dog - mealtime is the perfect opportunity to nourish the mind and body simultaneously! In adolescence, dogs like Sinna, are still learning about the world and their brains are wired to seek out novel experiences. One of my favorite ways to nurture that need is by incorporating new foods and different textures into an enrichment toy. This is the recipe that I used the first time that Sinna tried goat cheese!

Nutrition tip:
Blueberries can provide an excellent source of fiber, antioxidants, and vitamins C and K! These low-calorie, bite-sized fruits are a great way to support your dog’s immune system.

If you don’t have quail eggs, part of a hard-boiled chicken egg will do just fine. Quail eggs are high in fatty acids, selenium, iron, vitamin B12 and vitamin A, which gives your pet a visibly silkier coat. Compared to chicken eggs, quail eggs provide greater amounts of protein, iron, and healthy fats. They also boast properties that can help treat allergies, reverse cellular damage and even help the nervous system.

Microgreens pack a punch of vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants, shielding against cancers and the ravages of time. Plus, they're gentle on your pup's tummy, making digestion a breeze!
