This is the ONLY toy my Lab cannot destroy! It's got a great bounce to it, which makes chasing it so much fun for him. Because of its unique design, my dog can even roll it himself and be amused by its unpredictable direction. And he loves to just lay and chew on it as well. Make sure you always have an extra on hand, for if you ever lose it, you will surely miss it until another arrives in the mail!
I was dog-sitting for a friend, and their energetic Lab. jumped into a clump of junipers to chase a smell ( maybe a bunny!) He went in with his beloved ball in his mouth but came out without it. He loves his Jive balls, so I got him 2 replacements. He is a strong male dog that loves to chew on that ball—-when he is not chasing it.
My little rescue dog was terribly anxious....about anything and everything. Then I figured out that she loved to play ball. Only problem was she chewed through every kind of ball I purchased; until I found West Paw's. It was the only ball she couldn’t destroy and she loved the goofy bounce. She played with it, carried it around and slept with it; it was like her pacifier. When she was frightened and barking at a stranger who came to the house, I just told her to go get her ball. When the person rolled the ball for her, she knew she had a new friend. We used that ball for 12 wonderful years. Thanks to West Paw my traumatized little rescue dog was able to become the wonderful, loving dog she was always meant to be.
Our dog is not that big (40lbs, still growing a little), but her bite well outpaces her size. We have had to throw away all the chew toys we've tried from the store, no matter how sturdy they looked or were advertised as, because they are usually shredded within minutes of getting them home. Black (extreme) Kong toys do ok, but she can still pull small pieces off of those, while this ball is still going strong several weeks in. There are some scratches from her nails and rolling it outside, but it is essentially undamaged from chewing. Yay!
I got this for my 5lb chihuahua/Jack russel mix while he was teething. He’s definitely taken some chunks out of it but it’s one of his favorite balls! We don’t let him have any fuzzy ones and the other rubber ones we found squeaked so this was perfect.
My only complaint is that the listings don’t specifically say how big each toy is. If I’d realize just how small this was, I’d probably have gotten a regular small instead of an XS. Maybe they could add the product measurements :)
